Friday we went to get bagels at a shop near my sister and her boyfriend's new apartment.  It was holy shit awesome, they were so good and they didn't skimp on the cream cheese.  Not sure if I can eat another bagel again.  Went back to the apartment to unpack a bit, and went to Crocodile alley for happy hour.  They have a deal were you get a free pizza with every beer purchase.  Bought some beers and had pizza for lunch.  We played skeeball and I made a new all time personal best of 270.  Like bowling I do better after having a few.  Played some driving game, but had more fun hitting other cars and lamp posts than actually racing.

Later we went to a pirate theme bar.   We had a few beers and started chatting with an Australian guy who lives in London.   Can't remember the guy's name now.  We decided to get pomme frites since some place sister's boyfriend heard about was in the neighborhood.  Wandered a few blocks until we found it.  Stopped into another bar for a final round and called it a night.  The subway was taking forever so we took a cab.  Cabbie made Mario Andretti look like a bloody rank amateur.  Have no idea how the hell we got back to the apartment so fast and in one piece.  Eventually fell asleep around 5 am.

On the fourth woke up with a bit of a hangover.  Went to Brooklyn for the Nathan's hot dog eating contest.  Had fun watching the crowd, sister managed to get some decent shots of the contestants.  Disappointed that Kobayashi lost again.  Didn't feel like waiting in a massive line for hot dogs so we went to sign up for a scavenger hunt.  when we got there  the place was full of hipsters, and there were drawings of orgys on the walls.  So we left, figured we could say I wasn't feeling well.  Ate lunch at this coffee house type thing, had some really good mac and cheese.  Went to Wall Street so I could get photos of the bull.  Have a photo of me with the bull will post them eventually.  Saw a ton of Indian tourists taking photos.  Realized it made sense when we saw online that the bull appeared in a Bollywood movie.  That evening we walked down to some park to see the fireworks.  Didn't go to the prime viewing areas since that involved huge crowds and insane security.

Left this afternoon and it took longer to get home due to holiday traffic and a few accidents on I-95 surprised the bus was only 30 min late.

Had a great time and the move was smoother than I thought.  Sucks that I couldn't see [info]xraytheenforcer and catch up, but things happen.  I'm sure I'll be back soon.

It takes a certain level of balls and/or insanity to be a NYC cabbie.

That is all.

Recovering from helping my sister and her boyfriend move, still exhausted and wandered around Central Park today.  Yesterday we took everything from Fort Lee, NJ to Manhattan.  Walked to Central Park and took a few photos, wandered into Chelsea.

Hit the subway turnstile with my leg, banged my knee on the sofa bed, and the bathroom hates me.

Bought some fabric for a Lyanna Stark (a Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin) costume, which pretty much guarantees that A Dance with Dragons will have a very detailed Harrenhal tourney flashback scene.

Tomorrow will be taking photos of Wall Street and skeeball happy hour.

Will post later
19th-Jun-2009 12:45 pm - new windows
Having new windows installed today, they're about half way done now and they look pretty good.  Except for one mishap where they put the back patio doors where in the front of the house.  Figured out that was wrong when you can open the door from the outside only.  It's been removed and the correct door installed.  Trying to stay out of the way best I can since me, power tools, and glass don't mix well.  The only part I don't like is getting up at the ass crack of dawn.  Anyone going to WSFA tonight don't expect my usual cheery self.

Other than that spamming the internets with my resume, got a few "thanks but no thanks" emails.  Taking that as a good sign since I never got responses before.  Been making jewelry again and trying to get rid of a smoky smell out of a deerskin hide.  Right now it smells more like leather than smoke.
21st-May-2009 12:14 pm - Worst timing ever
Sister and her boyfriend are visiting this weekend, so I had to move my crap from the spare bedroom.  When moving boxes to my sewing area I stepped wrong and landed on the side of my right foot.  Bright side is nothing is broken and I can walk up and down stairs like a grown up now.  It's at the bruised badly and looks worse than it is stage currently.

When looking at potential costumes for Balticon I realized that many of my shoes are Dr Scholl's inserts covered in fabric, probably not the best thing to wear right now.  Probably should try on shoes and see what I can and can't wear right now.

Will be at Balticon some time tomorrow afternoon, will see some of the usual suspects there I hope.

Saw an article on MSNBC that quoted a Salvadoran saying he was annoyed with the school's Cinco de Mayo celebration because it was too  Mexican centric.  I'll link to it if I can' find it again.

Thought it was time for some stupidity and an excuse to use a new userpic I finally uploaded.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
